1. Tell us about you (experience, character, how long you have been playing, real life, etc):
I've been playing since end Beta, with a couple breaks (one during the bridge from vanilla to Burning Crusade, one during the bridge from Cata to Mists, and a couple shorter ones during expansions). In that time, I've been part of 2 large guilds - Cry Havoc and OFP (current guild), and have been an officer in both guilds. I greatly enjoyed my time in both guilds, and feel I contributed positively towards them. My departure from Cry Havoc was primarily due to a disagreement with another officer (if necessary, I can give more details to a recruitment officer, but I will not air dirty laundry in a public forum). My time in OFP has been great, but our GM has quit playing, and the leaders appointed in her absence have pretty much disappeared as well. There's no guild activity, no fellowship in guild chat, etc. It just feels like I'm in there just to be there. I remember running with some PoN members in the past (sadly I do not remember the names) and I remember that they made a good impression. Thus when it became apparent I needed to find a new guild, this was the first one I chose.
I'm not a hardcore player, I've left those days behind me. I'd love to do some raiding, but I've also made the promise to myself that when playing begins to feel like a job, or when I tell my girlfriend "I can't see you tonight because I have a raid," that's when I take a vacation from the game.
I have multiple toons to bring to the guild if we are a good fit for each other. My main character is a lvl 90 Frost DK that I am currently building a tank gear set for (she's my achievement whore). Along with those, I have a lvl 85 Hunter, Paladin, Druid, Rogue, and Shaman. I also have a lvl 70 priest and 48 monk that I toy with. I'm willing to adapt them to what the guild needs, I just ask for a little help from guildies at times.
By the way, have you noticed I'm a talkative person?
2. What do you hope to contribute to PoN?:
Conversation, lore knowledge, assistance to lower level players, and hopefully some raid help. I'm mainly a community-driven person, though. I have a sick sense of humor, but can adapt to whatever behavioral requirements exist (hey, I existed in a guild so religious that they didn't even like the achievement "D.E.T.A.'s liitle P.I.T.A." because it was abbreviated profanity). I love to help organize old achievement runs (although I'm not a great leader when it comes to large raids and such).
I'm also a completist when it comes to professions, so I can usually be relied on to know some of the more obscure weird crafted recipes. Anyone need a lifelike mechanical toad?
3. Are you able to raid on the following days & times:
>Monday (8pm-11pm ET)?: No, I work from 2pm until Midnight
>Wednesday (8pm-11pm ET)?: Usually, yes.
>Thursday (8pm-11pm ET)?: Usually, yes.
4. Are you able to listen on Mumble (Our Voice Server Software)?
I'll certainly download it if I get accepted
5. Do you agree with the guild charter and looting policy? Do you understand that raids will be filled based on class balance, that raid spots may be rotated depending on the fight and no spot not even for officers is guaranteed, and that we expect folks to come prepared with consumables?
Looks fair to me!
6. Are you willing to accept constructive criticism, take suggestions, act on recommendations to better yourself and ultimately the guild?
Accept? I encourage constructive criticism! I want to improve, especially if I take a character on a raid.
7. Your thoughts on bacon?
I believe it's what binds the world together.
8. Other/Random things you would like us to know about you (optional)?
Let's see...
The most important thing is I'm a caregiver for my mother. She's in her 70's, and has gone through breast cancer and a mastectomy. The chemo is over, but between that and old age, I don't trust her to be alone. Sometimes I have to step away from the computer for maybe 10 minutes to get her situated for bed. On raid nights I can try to do this before the raid starts.
I'm a movie buff, and I used to own a new / used DVD store. My personal collection consists of over 1500 titles, both movies and seasons of TV shows.
I'm also a fan of the game Magic: The Gathering, and have been a tournament organizer and judge since the late 90's.
I guess that's it... hopefully we can work together! :-)
